چکیده
This paper reports the thermal, morphological and mechanical properties of environmentally friendly poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB)/poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) PHB/poly[(butylene succinate)-co-(butylene adipate)] (PBSA) blends, prepared by melt mixing. The blends are known to be immiscible, as also confirmed thermodynamic analysis here presented. A detailed quantification crystalline amorphous fractions was performed, in order interpret blends. As expected, ductility increased with increasing PBS or PBSA amount, but parallel decrease elastic modulus appeared limited. Surprisingly, found properly described rule mixtures whole composition range, thus attesting compatibility between two blend components. unusual behavior has been explained due co-continuous morphology, present a wide at same time result shrinkage occurring during sequential crystallization components, which can lead physical adhesion matrix dispersed phase. For first time, moduli mobile fraction PHB ambient temperature have estimated through modelling approach. © 2021 Authors. Rheology and Morphology Development in Immiscible Polymer Blends
In this review, progress towards a fundamental understanding of the rheologymorphology relationship in immiscible polymer blends is discussed. The behaviour of biphasic polymer fluids, containing Newtonian components and subjected to simple shear flows is relatively well understood at present. The behaviour of these “simple” blends will be discussed first, as it serves as a reference for the ot...

In this work, ternary polymer blends based on polypropylene (PP)/ polyethylene terephthalate (PET) /poly(styrene-b (ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene) (SEBS) triblock copolymer and a reactive maleic anhydride grafted SEBS (SEBS-g-MAH) at various compositions were prepared by co-rotating twin screw extruder. The effects of PET, SEBS and SEBS-g-MAH compatibilizer on morphology of the blends were ex...
متن کاملEffects of compatibilizer on immiscible polymer blends near phase inversion
e consider the effects of adding a PIB-PDMS diblock copolymer as a compatibilizer in model lends composed of polyisobutylene PIB and polydimethylsiloxane PDMS . The ratio of PIB to DMS was varied from 20:80 to 80:20 and, hence, these blends are dubbed “concentrated” blends. ost experiments were conducted on blends containing 0.01 or 0.1 wt. % compatibilizer. All lends had a droplet-matrix morph...
